Our heroes take shelter in a local inn to formulate a plan to make money (and drink mead). Just before they head off to bed, a mysterious stranger is overheard bragging about a map she found of the fabled Crystal Cave. Within it lies a sacred tomb of unimaginable treasures. Ian the Rabbit then laid a wager to the stranger: If Ian could best her in a game of wits, the boys would accompany the stranger in her quest. If Ian loses, he would surrender his prized Stone Lute.

The stranger accepts. Ian placed parchment onto the hole of a bottle and 3 gold coins onto of the parchment. If the stranger could remove the parchment and leave the coins atop the bottle, she wins.

Try after try, the stranger had no luck. She was forced to give up. Ian slowly sauntered to the bottle, licked his finger and swiped down at the parchment leaving the coins on the bottle.

With a handshake, the boys would join the stranger to crystal cave.
